eco-lodge_in_la_amistad.jpg (38588 bytes) Isolated Lodge  Eco-Lodge on border of La Amistad Park.
This lodge often has space available as it is one of the most remote in Costa Rica.
The only current method of access to this park entrance is by private vehicle.
We camped in the jungle despite teasing from our drivers to beware of wild tigers. A short distance into the forest, we saw wild monkeys, birds, amazing insects, and during the night heard - but didn't see - what we were told was an Oso-Caballo (a bear-horse? - but probably an anteater).

Barely discernable above, Joanna is standing by the largest tree we encountered in this area of the forest.

Below is a remaining grandfather tree, left in an area cleared of primary forest in the private mountain community of Las Alturas.
