We have built a large,
roomy cabina, with kitchen area, bathroom w/ hot shower,
and 2 secure storage areas. There are metal security grates on all openings.
It is currently furnished with a king-sized handmade bed, a bunkbed with
a
single on top and double on bottom, a handcrafted log bench and a table
with four chairs.
The kitchen setup includes refrigerator, electric stovetop, stainless steel
cookware, all dishes, etc.

We are approximately
3 miles north of the coffee market center town of San Vito which has Internet, three
supermarkets, a good selection of restaurants, hotels, hardware & building supply
stores, mechanics, vehicles for sale, new and used clothing and
shoe stores, fruit
& vegetable vendors, ice cream shops, panaderías (both Italian and Costa Rican), a
huge hospital, attorneys, surveyors, a museum, 2 bus stations...and more. There
are buses running 7 days a week, local small markets and payphones within walking distance
of the cabina, and inexpensive taxis available 24/7.
If you ride to the end of the line on one bus, you will be within a short distance of La
Amistad International Park.
From San Vito, by bus it is approximately a 2-hour ride to the beach, 6 hours to San Jose,
2 hours or less to either of two Panama border crossings.
Wilson
Botanical Gardens is very close to San Vito. |

Peaceful, breezy,
quiet. The altitude at 3000 feet prevents the temperature from exceeding a mean of 80
degrees F., and often rain showers will cool things down during the afternoon.
A warm blanket on your bed is needed as it can get chilly at night. You
will find bananas, plantains, rambutans (lychees), and oranges ready to pick and eat, Yuca
to dig and cook; possibly the pineapples and guanabananas will be ripe.
Plenty of trees for hammocks!

A view from the
cabina taken in March, 2004, this rainbow appeared directly over the site of the 2004
World Rainbow Gathering on one of the first days of the gathering. |
